ABOUT ME
I use my fifteen years’ experience leading software teams
to inspire people and produce excellent results.
I lead teams to build high quality robust software,
which meets the needs of our users.
With my considered approach, I help people to bear in mind the longer term ROI when planning and designing solutions.
I’m often called in to fix problems – I love
finding out what is wrong and devising a plan to resolve it.
I work in a structured and transparent way – making work visible helps everyone to understand what we are trying to do.
The teams I lead have had very high engagement and low attrition – most people have been in the team for years.
I thrive in organisations with a high degree of trust,
where there is a user-centred agile approach.
Often, there are organisational or human impediments to software solutions. I use a variety of tools and techniques to help overcome these problems. It is a delight to see friendships form at work, where previously there has been friction, often due to misunderstandings or a lack of alignment. I put time and effort into active listening and prioritising time for people to work together.
While writing the business case for a major strategic project, our internal customer made it very clear to the board that they would only accept software built internally by my team rather than buying a solution even if it was cheaper. This was because of the flexibility, responsiveness and high quality the team is known to provide.
